THE TEXT WHAT IS THIS CLINTON THING ALL ABOUT, AND WHO CARES, ANYWAY? I know that a lot of you don't give a rat's ass about the Clinton scandal, but I do, and I was bothered when I saw French people on TV this morning talking about how dumb the Americans are now, so I feel like writing about this. If you are sick of hearing about it, go ahead and move on, but you really should read this because you're hearing it from someone who's right (and always right, I might add.) The whole Clinton thing is really very simple if you choose to look at in that way, which I do. Here's the story: Paula Jones filed a lawsuit against Clinton because he allegedly sexually harrassed her. Every American is entitled to a fair and impartial trial. President Clinton purposefully lied during the Paula Jones testimony. His lying was premeditated. That is called "perjury" and it is a crime. Therefore he should be punished. The fact that he is the president doesn't and shouldn't protect him from taking responsibility for his wrongdoings because the Constitution says "no American is above the law." What he should have done is admit to lying under oath when he found out that Monica had a dress with his cum stain on it. Instead, he made fools out of the American people by saying that he didn't lie because it all depends on what the definition of the word "is" is. How can the American legal system work if people lie in court? Every witness must take an oath to tell the whole truth, and if that oath is not honored, the legal system is broken. One person's dishonoring of an oath is no big deal, but when more and more people commit perjury, the American legal system becomes laughable. Is it OK if the president of the United States commits perjury? Maybe we could pass it off if he had only done it once (but it was over and over again, culminating in lying to the Federal Grand Jury and then to the U.S. Congress). Maybe we could say that because Paula Jones is so ugly, he probably didn't sexually harrass her anyway. Maybe we could also say that because the lawsuit was about sexual harrassment, and not about something "important" like murder, it's not worthy of our time. But that is all a load of crap and everyone knows it. People in other countries need to stop criticizing us for what is happening here, and if you're doing it, this means you, too. Nobody knows what really goes on on Capital Hill. (Not even me!) That's why we vote in incredibly educated and dedicated men and women as our Congressmen. It's their responsibility to know how to handle things like this. Unfortunately, there's really no precedent to follow because no president has ever been removed from office. However, I trust that they will make the right decisions. (Some politicians make too many decisions based on politics, and not on truth or law, but I would say that while that is very unfortunate, it's better than just one person making the decisions, or all 250 million Americans flooding Capital Hill to get their 2 cents in).
