Dear readers, ladies and gentlemen
KCP získalo dotace na školení pracovníků
držím v ruce tabulky s hospodářskými výsledky Kongresového centra
Praha, a.s. (KCP) za uplynulý rok a musím s potěšením konstatovat,
že byl opět rokem úspěšnějším než ten předešlý. Splnili jsme tak, co
jsme začátkem ledna 2005 slíbili - že v hospodářských položkách, které můžeme svou prací ovlivnit, dosáhneme znovu lepších výsledků.
Vděčíme za to především intenzivní marketingové činnosti a vysoce
profesionálnímu obchodnímu přístupu zaměřenému na maximální spokojenost našich klientů.
looking at the business results of the Prague Congress Centre (PCC)
for the last year I must say that it was again more successful year than
the previous one. We have completed our plan to achieve better business results, in those areas that are under our control, than in the last
year. This is mainly because we managed to intensify our marketing
activities and because of our highly professional approach to the clients.
Zvyšovat profesionalitu svých pracovníků může Kongresové centrum
Praha, a.s. (KCP) v příštích dvou letech i díky finančnímu příspěvku z fondů Evropské unie, Ministerstva práce a sociálních věcí ČR
a Magistrátu hlavního města Prahy. Z programu JPD 3 totiž získalo
grantové prostředky na rozvíjení jazykových znalostí, počítačových
dovedností a marketingové a obchodní obratnosti nebo zdokonalování
profesionálního vystupování zaměstnanců KCP ve vztahu ke klientům.
For the last two years
PCC has been able to
manage its business
without any financial
subsidies. The receipts increased by 7 %
in 2005. Number of
actions organized in
PCC increased to
375, 40 of them were
big congresses with
more than 1 000 participants. On average
one action lasts for 3
days and that means we organized 3 projects a day. Maximum was 10 events
in one day. In the second half of 2005 PCC managed to fill the capacity of longterm lease of offices and commercial establishment.
The overall numbers of visitors have increased by 20 000 every year. As far
as the stats of the International Convention and Congress Association (ICCA)
for 2004 go Prague beat even Austrian Vienna, formerly dominating the central
european region, in the number of congress participants. Prague has maintained its 6th position among world congress centres. Vienna has moved to
the 8th place. In the prognosis for years 2005 to 2016 Prague has taken
the 7th place in the number of binding orders. Prague would not achieve
this success without a good cooperation with Czech Tourist Authority - CzechTourism, organizational agencies and other subjects in the
area of congress tourism.
In 2005 the Prague Congress Centre became one of the 10 % of
congress centres all over the world that have achieved the international quality certificate ISO 9001:2000. The Holiday Inn PCC hotel,
being a part of the centre was also given the prestigious award by
the international network of the certification companies IQNet. Both
awards prove the superior customer care in PCC as well as at
the hotel.
And finally let me express my strong conviction that this year will
be at least the same succesful as the last one and that we will be
able to improve our customer care and that I will be able to begin
the year 2007 with the same words of praise and compliments
as today.

v různých oborech nám pomůže udržet kvalitu naší péče o klienty na vysoké úrovni. Tu
jsme mimo jiné prokázali koncem loňského
roku, kdy jsme obdrželi prestižní mezinárodní certifikát ISO 9001:2000. Školení jsou
dalším krokem ke zvyšování profesionality
našich zaměstnanců,“ prohlásil generální
ředitel KCP Michal Kárník a dodal: „Musíme stále držet krok se světovými trendy.
Přesvědčit klienta, že právě KCP je tím
nejvhodnějším místem pro pořádání jeho
významné akce, je mnohdy profesně velmi náročné.“
Mezi oblasti, ve kterých si budou zaměstnanci Kongresového centra Praha pod
dohledem odborných lektorů zvyšovat svou kvalifikaci, patří nejen jazyková
vybavenost a počítačová gramotnost, ale i profesionální vystupování, umění
prezentace, zvládání konfliktních a stresových situací, reprezentace a celkové
budování pozitivní image firmy.
KCP již druhým rokem úspěšně hospodařilo bez finančních dotací. O celých 7 %
vzrostly v roce 2005 tržby z jednotlivých akcí. Jejich počet navíc stoupl na 375,
z toho bylo 40 velkých kongresů s více než tisícem účastníků. Pokud počítáme,
že jedna trvá v průměru 3 dny znamená to, že jsme organizovali 3 akce za den.
Maximum pak bylo 10 akcí v jednom dni. Ve druhém pololetí loňského roku se
navíc KCP podařilo zcela zaplnit kapacitu dlouhodobých nájmů kancelářských
a obchodních prostor.
Také celkové počty návštěvníků akcí vzrůstají každým rokem o cca 20 tisíc
osob. Ze statistické studie prestižní Mezinárodní kongresové asociace
ICCA za rok 2004 vyplývá, že Praha předstihla v počtu kongresových delegátů i Vídeň, která dosud ve středoevropském regionu
dominovala. Praha si tak udržela šesté místo mezi světovými
kongresovými metropolemi, Vídeň se posunula až na místo
osmé. V prognóze studie ICCA na roky 2005 až 2016 je
navíc Praha v počtu závazně přihlášených akcí již nyní na
místě sedmém. Těchto výsledků by Praha nedosáhla bez
Kongresového centra a jeho dobré spolupráce s agenturou
CzechTourism a dalšími subjekty zabývajícími se kongresovou
turistikou.
Kongresové centrum se v roce 2005 také zařadilo mezi pouhých 10 % světových kongresových center, kterým se podařilo
získat Certifikát řízení jakosti podle
mezinárodních norem ISO 9001:2000.
Hotel Holiday Inn PCC, který je jeho
součástí, byl navíc jako vůbec první
v oboru cestovního ruchu v České
republice oceněn prestižním atestem nadnárodní sítě certifikačních
společností IQNet. Obě osvědčení dokládají zaměření na dokonalou péči o zákazníka a jeho
plnou spokojenost.
Závěrem mi dovolte vyjádřit
přesvědčení, že i v letošním
roce maximálně zúročíme
naši snahu o neustálé zdokonalování služeb pro klienty
a rok 2007 budu moci začínat stejnými slovy chvály jako
dnes.

V minulém roce se Praze dokonce podařilo pokořit rekord. Počet
zahraničních turistů dosáhl téměř
čtyř milionů a počet přenocování dospěl k hranici 11,5 milionu.
Hlavní město ČR se tak dostalo na

návštěvníků. Letos se očekává

KCP se v posledních letech stalo hostitelem řady prestižních kongresů a konferencí, např. zasedání Mezinárodního měnového fondu v září roku 2000 nebo
jednání Severoatlantické aliance o dva roky později. „Kongresové centrum Praha disponuje nejmodernější kongresovou technikou i důstojnými, variabilními
jednacími a výstavními prostory, které vyžadují například pořadatelé lékařských
a dalších vědeckých sympózií. Tři tisíce astronomů bude KCP například hostit
v srpnu tohoto roku,“ podotkl Jan Bürgermeister.

Thanks to financial grant from the EU funds, Ministry of Labour and
Social Affairs of the Czech Republic and Prague Magistrate, the Prague
Congress Centre (PCC) will be able to increase its staff professionalism in the next two years. It has received financial means from the
programme JPD 3 to develop language and computer skills, marketing and sales abilitities or to perfect the professional manners of PCC
employees in contact with clients.

professions will help us keep the quality of
service we provide our clients with on a high
level. We proved that by the end of last year
by receiving a prestigious certificate ISO
9001:2000. These trainings are our next
steps towards increasing the professionality

Last year Prague managed to break a record. The number of foreign tourists
reached almost four million and the number of overnights was 11.5 million. The
Czech capital took the fourth rank in the growth of overnights in Europe and the
sixth place in the number of visitors. This year an increase by half a million is
expected. “Prague is the fastest developing destination according to the British
market, the second fastest according to the French market and the third according to the Italian one. According to the Japanese market, Prague is the absolute
number one,” said Jan Bürgermeister, the chairman of the board of directors of
the Prague Congress Centre (PCC) and the deputy mayor, the most important
congress premises in the Czech Republic. It is PCC that has been a host to
many prestigious congresses and conferences in the last few years. For example the Meeting of the International Monetary Fund in September 2000 or the
NATO Summit two years later. “The Prague Congress Centre has the most upto-date congress equipment and worthy, variable premises which are requested
by the organizers of medical and other scientifical symposiums. For example in
August PCC will host 3000 astronomers,” said Jan Bürgermeister.

a Lou Reeda i strhující show tradičního japonského souboru bubeníků

Na tři tisíce odborníků v astronomii z celého světa se v srpnu sejde
v Kongresovém centru Praha (KCP) na 26. výročním zasedání Mezinárodní astronomické unie (IAU). Praha se tak stane teprve třetím městem světa, kam se tento prestižní kongres po letech znovu vrací.
Více než 1 200 odborníků na cestovní
ruch a představitelů nejvýznamnějších
světových cestovních kanceláří se na
konci března sjelo do Kongresového
centra Praha (KCP). Konalo se zde první
zasedání Americké asociace cestovních
agentur ASTA – International Destination Expo (IDE) se zaměřením na střední
Evropu. Česká republika zvítězila v silné
konkurenci o uspořádání této akce např.
nad Maďarskem, Brazílií, Marokem či
Tureckem a vydobyla si tak jedinečnou
šanci být historicky prvním hostitelem
IDE.
Kongresové foyer ve 2. patře Kongresového centra Praha (KCP) je nejrozsáhlejší a nejpopulárnější výstavní plochou KCP. Propojení foyer se
3. a 4. patrem poskytuje komfortní vzdušný prostor, jehož prosklené
stěny po celé délce nabízejí překrásný výhled na Prahu, včetně panoramatu Pražského hradu. Z foyer se vchází přímo do největšího sálu
KCP – Kongresového sálu.

Bubny a salsa v KCP
Vůbec poprvé zavítal do ČR se svým vystoupením soubor bubeníků
YAMATO. Předvedli fascinující show Kami-Nari (Hrom), která slaví
úspěchy po celém světě a po několika minutách zvedá publikum ze
sedadel. Strhující rytmus tradičních bubnů „Wadaiko“, se kterými soubor cestuje po celém světě již více než 10 let, naplnil Kongresový sál
KCP začátkem března.
Na velkolepé párty s profesionální salsa show pátého ročníku mezinárodního Bacardi Salsa Festivalu v podání několika stovek tanečníků z celé Evropy
se zase mohli na přelomu března a dubna těšit ti, kterým nestačí jen sedět
a naslouchat.

„Opětovné konání kongresu v našem hlavním městě po 39 letech je důkazem
dobrého jména české astronomie. Vždyť v Praze v průběhu staletí pobývali a pracovali velikáni astronomie a fyziky Tycho de Brahe, Johannes Kepler,
Albert Einstein, Christian Doppler a další. IAU je mezinárodní vědeckou společností, která sdružuje na 9 tisíc vynikajících profesionálních astronomů z celého
světa. Její kongresy lze připodobnit k olympijským hrám ve sportu,“ prohlásil
Dr. Jiří Grygar, předseda Učené společnosti ČR. Špičkoví odborníci z členských
zemí Unie se do KCP sjedou 14. srpna na dva týdny, aby zhodnotili objevy
v astronomii v uplynulých třech letech a dohodli se na dalším prohloubení mezinárodní spolupráce. Významného ocenění se na této konferenci dostane také
práci našich astronomů. Česká republika se oficiálně zařadí mezi členské země
prestižní Evropské jižní observatoře, jejíž dosavadní ředitelka prof. Catherine
J. Cesarsky bude právě v Kongresovém centru Praha slavnostně uvedena do
funkce prezidentky IAU.

biggest hall in PCC – the Congress Hall.
Three tousand experts in astronomy from all over the world will meet
in the Prague Congress Centre (PCC) for the 26th annual conference
of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in August. Prague will be
only the third city in the world that will host this prestigious congress for
the second time.
It was for the very first time the group of drummers YAMATO performed
in Prague. Their show Kami Nari (Thunder), which is famous and popular with the audience all over
the world, was fascinating.

Congress foyer on the 2nd floor of the Prague
Congress Center (PCC) is the largest and
most popular exhibition space in PCC. The
interconnection with the 3rd and 4th floor offers comfortable and airy space. Its glassedin walls provide a beautiful cityscape, including a view over the Prague Castle. From
the foyer you can easily reach the biggest hall in PCC – the Congress
Hall.
The elite of world tourism came to Prague
More than 1 200 tourism experts and world travel agencies representatives met in the Prague Congress Centre (PCC) by the end of
March. The first conference of American Society of Travel Agents ASTA
– International Destination Expo (IDE) focusing on the Central Europe
took place here. The Czech Republic won in strong competition for holding this event against Hungary, Brazil, Morocco or Turkey. It gained
a unique opportunity to become the very first host of IDE.
“The recurring organization of the congress in the capital is a proof of a good
name of the Czech astronomy. After all, many great astronomers and physics
lived and worked here. Such as Tycho de Brahe, Johannes Kepler, Albert
Einstein, Christian Doppler and more. The IAU is a scientifical society which
gathers about 9 000 brilliant professional astronomers from all over the world. Its
congresses can be compared to the Olympic games,” said Dr. Jiří Grygar, president of The Learned Society of The
Czech Republic. The top EU experts
will meet in PCC on 14th August for
two weeks to discuss new discoveries in astronomy and to agree on
further deepening of international

March and April about a thousand
of dancers from the Czech Republic and abroad danced through the
fifth year of Salsa festival known
as the Bacardi Salsa Festival.
Kongresové foyer ve 2. patře je značně variabilním prostorem. Jeho rozloha
je 2 535,5 m2, šířka činí 37 metrů, délka 110 metrů a výška je 2,9 až 11 metrů.
Svou celkovou kapacitou až dva tisíce osob představuje vhodné místo pro pořádání samostatných
i doprovodných výstav i většího rozsahu. V tomto
prostoru se odehrávají coffee - breaky, obědy,
rauty, bankety, plesy a další společenská setkání.
Prostor ale mohou pracovníci KCP upravit např.
na kabaret pro 630 osob. Dle přání lze prostor
vybavit veškerou kongresovou technikou.

záležitostí a velkou výzvou. Naší samozřejmou snahou bylo dovést zajištění
kongresu k absolutní dokonalosti včetně mimopracovního programu delegátů,“ uvedl náměstek pražského primátora a předseda představenstva KCP Jan
Bürgermeister. Smyslem setkání bylo intenzivní představení turistických možností České republiky. Součástí akce byla doprovodná výstava, kde manažerským špičkám světové turistiky prezentovalo své služby 147 vystavovatelů,
z toho 76 z České republiky.
Poděkování tak patří všem zaměstnancům a partnerům, kteří se podíleli na této
velmi zdařilé prezentaci České republiky.

The Congress foyer on the 2nd floor is considerably variable space. Its area is 2
535.5 sq. meters, width is 37 meters, length is 110 meters and height is 2.9 - 11
meters. With its total capacity of up to 2 000 people, it presents a suitable place for holding independent or supporting exhibitions of a bigger size. Coffee
– breaks, lunches, banquets, parties, balls and other social events take place in
this space. PCC staff is able to adapt it to, for example, cabaret for 630 guests.
As needed, these premises can be fitted with all congress equipment.
“ASTA is the biggest world association of tourism professionals. It has 20 000
members from 140 countries and that is why the Prague congress was really
prestigious and challanging for us. Obviously we tried to make everything absolutely perfect including extra-work activities for the delegates,“ said the chairman
of the board of directors of PCC and the deputy mayor Jan
Bürgermeister. The main reason for this meeting was to
present the touristic possibilities of our country. As a part
of this event there was a supporting exhibition where
147 exhibitors, 76 from the Czech Republic,
presented their offers and services to the
world tourism top managers.
