Czech Stem Cells Registry (CSCR-Prague) former Czech Bone Marrow Donor Registry, was founded in
1991 in the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague, Czech Republic. In the same
year, it became a member of the international network of unrelated bone marrow donor registries
which was managed from the coordinating centre in Leiden, Netherlands. CSCR is a member of
BMDW and WMDA.
CSCR gradually established contacts and joined other cooperating networks: National Marrow Donor
Program (NMDP) in Minneapolis, USA, in 1997 and European Marrow Donor Information System
(EMDIS) in Ulm, Germany.
CSCR searches in its database HLA matched donors both for Czech and international patients.
CSCR holds ISO 9001 certification dated September 2007.

Number of donors/cord blood units newly added to the Registry during the year 2009 :
In 2009, CSCR added to database 1338 donors/CBUs.
Initial typing on donor samples was performed by serological methods in the HLA class I.
(A,B,C loci) and DNA methods were used for HLA class II. (DRB1*LR typing)
All CBUs entered in registry are ABDR*LR typed and units entered in year 2009 are
A, B,C,DRB1,DQB1 intermediate or HR typed.
Cord blood units are included in the CSCR registry pursuant to the agreement of CSCR and
the Cord Blood Bank of the Czech Republic.
